Job Description

Engineer II, Manufacturing
($3,000 Sign-On Bonus)

Position Profile:
The Production Engineer is responsible for the technical management, maintenance, and development of new and existing production lines. This role develops, implements, and maintains methods, operation sequences, test equipment, and processes to ensure equipment capacity meets customer demand. The Production Engineer also drives process improvements based on yield results and participates in defect reduction activities and lean initiatives.

Minimum Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related field

  • 5+ years of experience in design and manufacturing of electric motors

  • 2+ years of related experience in a production/operations environment

  • Working knowledge of electric motors, components, manufacturing processes, and testing methods

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact across all levels of personnel and external partners

  • Proficiency with MS Office and related systems/software

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create new tooling, fixturing, and processes/procedures for new motor introductions and improvements to existing motors

  • Develop and maintain testing policies, procedures, and performance metrics to achieve manufacturing objectives

  • Apply GD&T best practices to ensure part and assembly compliance

  • Investigate, assess, and resolve production issues effectively

  • Identify and implement efficiency improvements in current operations

  • Collaborate with suppliers to procure necessary tooling, fixtures, and equipment

  • Create assembly and test procedures for production hardware

  • Analyze equipment layout, workflow, assembly methods, and workforce utilization to maximize efficiency

  • Design detailed assembly procedures, tooling, and test fixtures

  • Generate procedures from industry and aerospace specifications

  • Communicate design intent with team members and suppliers

  • Apply Lean Manufacturing principles to tooling design, facility layout, cost estimates, root cause investigations, and shop documentation

  • Secure external resources as needed to maintain equipment operations

  • Create and refine detailed manufacturing documentation (operation sheets, routers, set-up/tooling sheets, etc.)

  • Generate, optimize, and validate CNC programs using CAD/CAM software

  • Design efficient and safe tools and fixtures for motor manufacturing

  • Provide accurate cost and time estimates using effective manufacturing methods

  • Define and monitor performance metrics, communicating status and corrective actions as needed

  • Participate in root cause investigations, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement initiatives

  • Drive initiatives to closure through effective collaboration with internal and external partners

  • Facilitate training to support a cross-trained workforce and operational goals

  • Follow all safety, quality, and compliance policies and procedures

  • Contribute to a positive, cooperative work environment through clear communication

  • Actively participate in meetings, improvement programs, and company initiatives

  • Keep management informed of significant issues or developments

  • Maintain a clean, secure, and organized work area

  • Complete special projects as assigned

Work Environment:

  • Exposure to typical manufacturing/machine shop conditions including fluids, fumes, moving mechanical parts, noise, and vibration

  • Combination of professional office and shop floor environments, requiring use of standard office equipment and protective gear (hearing, eye, foot protection, etc.)

  • Temperature may vary due to external conditions and machining processes

  • Some travel required (5–20%)

  • Full-time position: (4 x 9-hour days, Monday–Thursday) + (4 hours Friday). Overtime and weekends may be required

Physical Requirements:

  • Regularly required to talk, hear, stand, sit, walk, stoop, crouch, and reach with hands/arms

  • Frequent use of hands to handle or feel components/tools

  • Specific vision abilities: close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment (must pass required vision screening)

  • Ability to lift/move items up to 25 lbs

Pay Range:
$87,750 – $115,000 per year
Location: Chaska, MN

Additional Information:
