Job Summary:

As a Furniture Carpenter / Woodworker, you will be responsible for the structural repair, fabrication, and restoration of wooden furniture pieces. You should have experience working with hardwoods and softwoods, a strong understanding of joinery techniques, and an appreciation for fine craftsmanship. Your work will be essential in restoring furniture to its former beauty and functionality.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assess and repair damaged wooden furniture, including frames, legs, drawers, and joints.
• Fabricate missing or damaged parts using appropriate woodworking tools and materials.
• Sand, strip, and refinish wooden surfaces using hand and power tools.
• Perform detailed joinery, carving, and inlay work as needed.
• Collaborate with upholsterers and refinishers to complete full restoration projects.
• Maintain tools, machines, and workspaces in safe and working order.
• Follow safety guidelines and quality control standards throughout each project.
• Keep records of work completed and materials used.

Requirements:

• Proven experience as a furniture carpenter, woodworker, or cabinetmaker.
• Proficiency in woodworking tools and machinery (e.g., saws, routers, planers, sanders).
• Strong understanding of wood types, joinery, and restoration techniques.
• Excellent craftsmanship, attention to detail, and pride in your work.
• Ability to read and interpret design drawings or specifications.
• Physically able to lift and maneuver heavy furniture and materials.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or in a team.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with antique or period furniture restoration.
• Knowledge of wood finishing techniques (staining, sealing, etc.).
• Familiarity with CNC machinery is a plus.
