Shoreline Fruit is the largest tart cherry producer in North America operating over 6000 acres of cherry orchards in Michigan, growing and processing over 50 million pounds of cherries each year. SUMMARY

This position contributes to the success of the Williamsburg facility by assisting the Manager of Maintenance and Facilities with planning, directing and coordinating work activities and resources necessary for the day-to-day maintenance operations to ensure the plant's equipment and machinery operate efficiently. Incumbent will also troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues, assist with preventative maintenance schedules and continuous improvement initiatives.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• 1. Equipment Maintenance and Reliability

  • Oversee preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on all food processing and packaging equipment.

  • Ensure minimal equipment downtime and quick response to breakdowns.

  • Maintain detailed maintenance logs and equipment histories.

  2. Compliance and Food Safety

  • Ensure all maintenance activities comply with food safety standards (e.g., HACCP, GMP, SQF).

  • Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of tools, parts, and maintenance areas to avoid contamination.

  • Support quality assurance audits and ensure documentation is ready and accurate.

  3. Staff Supervision and Training

  • Supervise, schedule, and coordinate maintenance technicians and contractors.

  • Train team members on safe and efficient maintenance procedures.

  • Conduct performance evaluations and coach for improvement.

  4. Inventory and Spare Parts Management

  • Maintain adequate inventory of spare parts and critical components.

  • Ensure proper storage and labeling to prevent cross-contamination.

  • Track usage and costs, and order supplies as needed.

  5. Planning and Documentation

  • Develop and manage the preventive maintenance program using MVP.

  • Generate reports on maintenance KPIs such as downtime, MTTR, and maintenance costs.

  • Plan and coordinate shutdowns, upgrades, or installations with minimal impact on production.

  6. Safety and Regulatory Compliance

  • Enforce safety policies and conduct routine inspections of equipment and work areas.

  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other local/regional safety and environmental regulations.

  • Investigate incidents and implement corrective actions.

  7. Continuous Improvement

  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance equipment performance and reduce costs.

  • Collaborate with operations to optimize equipment design and layout.

  • Stay current with industry trends, technology, and maintenance best practices.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS

• Minimum of 4 years previous supervisory experience
• Previous work - related skill, knowledge, or experience in manufacturing environment preferred but not required if possessing appropriate skills.
• Expertise and proficiency with basic office computer software .i.e., word processing, email, and excel spreadsheets.
• Ability to work with Computerized Maintenance Management System.
• Knowledge of HVAC, refrigeration, mechanical, electrical and plumbing repairs.
• Knowledge of programmable logic controllers (PLC's).
• Knowledge of equipment set-up functions, operating procedures and preventative maintenance techniques.
• Capable of multi-tasking and prioritizing workload
