Position Overview

The Division of Behavioral Health and Recovery is seeking to hire a Health Information Associate for the Elizabeth Packard Mental Health Center located in Springfield, Illinois to plan, organize, prepare and maintain statistical and medical reports in accordance with accrediting and regulatory agencies. Establishes and updates medical files. Serves as liaison with court personnel regarding health information. Compiles, keyboards and distributes monthly statistical reports; reviews general procedures of the Department; files reports, forms and other related data. 

Essential Functions

• Plans, organizes, prepares and maintains statistical and medical reports in accordance with accrediting and regulatory agencies. 
• Compiles, keyboards and distributes monthly statistical reports for the Hospital Chief Executive Officer, supervisor and Department Director related to patient population. 
• Files reports, forms and other related data into patient’s medical files. 
• Reviews general procedures of the Department, recommends and implements changes after the supervisor’s approval. 
• Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

Minimum Qualifications

• Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to two (2) years of college and one (1) year of health-related office experience OR completion of high school and three (3) years of health-related office experience. 

Conditions of Employment

• Requires the ability to utilize office equipment, including personal computers.
• Requires ability to pass the IDHS background check.
• Requires ability to pass a drug screen for drugs prohibited from recreational use under Illinois Law.

Work Hours:  Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm; 1-hour unpaid lunch
